Innovations in Cereals
In 1999, Dow AgroSciences scientists made a breakthrough discovery of the arylpicolinates, a completely new class of synthetic auxin chemistry within the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee (HRAC) Group O category. Chemical substitutions resulted in the addition of an aryl ring to the pyridine-carboxylate auxinic chemistry. This discovery yielded a new herbicidal chemical class with significantly increased potency and paved the way for a new generation of lower-dose rate, synthetic auxin herbicides.
Following this discovery and guided by feedback from farmers, Dow AgroSciences scientists characterized and developed Arylex™ active, the first member of the arylpicolinate class. Arylex represents the next generation of this unique mode of action and offers excellent crop safety, efficacy and flexibility.
